MOMENTSkathleenkellaighOct 25, 20202 min readHave you ever had one of those moments when you just KNOW you have to do something? I get them all the time. I have to call my daughter-- only to find she is hurting I have to go to THIS store right now--only to find the very last one of the item I need. I have to click on an obscure ad on Facebook to take some quiz That leads to a free 2-hour video That makes too much sense to ignore, That gives me a huge incentive to take a course, Where I find a daily meditation I faithfully do, Which is followed by a discussion group --That I don’t join for a month, Which just happens to be on the day the mentor appears to speak of A live workshop that has never been done before, That I KNOW I have to take at this time, That just ends up changing my life. You know? That kind of thing. Have you ever had one of those moments when you know life will never be the same again? Not just times like 9/11 Or #MeToo Or COVID Or George Floyd, #BLMBut a small, infinitesimal whisper That creates stabbing pains, illuminates fears, Thrusts you face first into the looking glass And through itTo shatter the illusion you’ve created of yourself,Leaving you with a million useless pieces of glitter Reflecting a light you’ve never truly seen; And silencing a created facade In favor of an ultimate Truth. You know? That kind of thing. Have you ever had one of those moments when you experience the reality of You?Oh, it may not stay long But in that millisecond of a Flash of light, sound, taste, smell, body-expanding To be the AllYou suddenly “get it.”You feel the sound of the construction truck (which previously had made you cringe) And you dance with it.You feel the outer limits of your sight And light and shadow tickle creation. You feel the smells of a rainstorm In the mountains of Oregon while you sit at your desk in New JerseyYou feel the tastes of today, and yesterday, and … Is that tomorrow? You feel the intrinsic harmony of a world immersed in chaos. And you are of it and simply, IT. And pain disperses with a yawnAnd the games you’ve played And the roles you’ve walked And the masks that have grown comfortable Dissolve into a universal voidThat welcomes the true seeker to Communion. It knocks you out of the ego-pond into an Ocean of joy, play, wonder...And in that state you find No ‘other” No “I” No separation No time No place No expectiationA state of pure Awareness… Well then...You know that kind of thing. And life can never be the same.Because you know In that Moment The reality of You Is NOW.
